February is Move UBC Month

Move UBC is all about aiming to increase physical activity and reduce the time we spend being inactive. Small changes can add up to big impacts – moving more and breaking up bouts of stationary (or sedentary) behaviour can improve both mental and physical health, impact academic and professional success, and contribute to wellbeing and sustainability in meaningful ways.

Last day to enter the intramural lottery! ⚽️ 

The final intramural sport series of the year is around the corner. League options include dodgeball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer, and you can sign up as a team or individual. Those selected via the lottery will be contacted to officially register on February 6 and 7.

Whether you are studying STEM or a STEM enthusiast, there are a variety of flexible opportunities for you to inspire children and youth through the Let's Talk Science UBCO Outreach program.

Volunteer with S.H.A.R.E. Society thrift store 👕

S.H.A.R.E. Society is seeking volunteers to help at the Community Thrift Store. Duties may include: carpentry, electrical, and small construction projects; researching the pricing of vintage items or specialty items; inventory prep; electronic sorting; minor repairs; retail work; greeting customers; cleaning. Shifts are available Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 pm

Improve your stress levels AND get a free 3-month membership to the YMCA!

School, relationships, current events, future planning... it can all feel like too much, but there are ways to manage your stress and anxiety.  Y Mind is a free series of workshops that help you learn different techniques to cope with worry and negative thoughts, as well as strategies for calming your body and mind. 

Plus, Y Mind participants will receive a free 3-month membership to the YMCA! 

Interested? Attend an intro session to learn more. There is one session tomorrow (February 6) from 5:30 to 7 pm or another on February 13 from 5:30 to 7 pm. Registration is required.

Mark your calendar! The Career Fair on happening on February 26 and 27. All year-level students from any program are invited.

Whether you are seeking something part-time, full-time, seasonal, or co-op, there are a variety of student opportunities available. You’ll have the chance to make connections and meet local employers from a diverse range of industries. 

Prepare to put your best foot forward by attending Career Development workshops. Prep for interviews, polish off your resume, or chat with a Career Peer Mentor.

This week is Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Whether it’s diet culture, body image pressure, or the constant noise around food and health, eating disorders and related concerns often hide in plain sight. Stop by our booth and take part in a fun, interactive experience that’s all about building awareness, breaking stigmas, and fostering a healthier relationship with food, body, and mind.

Stop by the first floor of the UNC on February 5 and 6 from 11 am to 1pm for trivia, snacks, and more.

Big dreams and ideas, but no funds?

UBC has a fund set aside to help students like you bring events, initiatives, or professional development opportunities to life. Successful applications can receive up to $3,500. The next deadline to apply is Sunday, February 16.

Graduating this year? You must apply by February 28 – and that's a hard deadline 🎓

Regardless of whether or not you plan to attend the June 2025 graduation ceremonies, you must apply to graduate before February 28 in order to receive your degree. You will not receive your degree if you do not apply to graduate.

Applying for graduation is a multi-step process, and both the Program Completion Application in Workday and the Graduation Application need to be completed or you will not receive your degree.

If you have questions about your degree requirements or would like to do a grad check, meet with an Academic & Career Advisor.
