CUPE National Convention: October 22 to 27, Quebec City
Every two years, CUPE members from across Canada convene to discuss resolutions, constitutional amendments, and the struggles we face as workers, in addition to attending a variety of equity caucuses. This year, our local was represented by:
- Catherine Larocque (President)
- Madeline White (Secretary-Treasurer)
- Olivia Lamontagne-Kratz (Chair of Bargaining committee for 2626-1)
- Sudipta Verma (Chair of Bargaining committee for 2626-3)
Before and during the convention, we advocated for our rights by advancing motions to increase democratic decision-making, to call for a ceasefire in Palestine, for changes to strike fund regulations to accommodate precarious workers, and much more! We also attended caucuses for young workers, Indigenous workers, Black and Racialized Workers, Disabled workers, 2SLGBTQIA+ workers, and Women.
Stay tuned in our next newsletter for a breakdown of our activities each day as well as which resolutions and ammendments were debated and passed!
