AIAC Excellence Awards
Québec Shines!
Hello all,
The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) recognized the excellence of several aerospace companies in Canada during the Canadian Aerospace Summit, held in Ottawa on November 13.
I am extremely proud that the winners of the three industry awards were Québec companies:
- James C. Floyd Award – Marc Parent, President and Chief Executive Officer of CAE
Marc Parent was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of CAE in 2009. He has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry. The James C. Floyd Award is presented to true visionaries who, through their accomplishments over the course of their careers, have directly contributed to the growth of Canada’s aerospace industry.
- Industry Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement – John Saabas, former President of Pratt & Whitney Canada
John Saabas spent 35 years at Pratt and Whitney Canada, leading and expanding the company for a decade. This lifetime achievement award recognizes the excellence of the recipient in terms of leadership, commitment and promotion, and for contributions to the continuous development of aerospace in Canada.
- Industry Excellence Award for Small Business Innovation and Technology – Avior Integrated Products
This demonstrates the excellence of our companies and the considerable dynamism of Québec’s aerospace cluster!
The performance of our SMEs is critical to the strength of our industry. That’s why I would especially like to congratulate Stephen Kearns, President and CEO of Avior Integrated Products, who deserves the Industry Excellence Award for Small Business Innovation and Technology.
This award recognizes a company whose advanced or innovative technologies have contributed to the strength of the Canadian economy and fostered the growth of its innovation sector, while continuing to have a positive impact on the industry and communities.
Avior Integrated Products is a full-service manufacturer of lightweight structures and complex mechanical assemblies for the international aerospace industry.
Once again, congratulations to all the winners.
The Summit was also an opportunity for the Honourable Jean Charest to request structural changes be made to the federal cabinet in light of the submission of the Vision 2025 report. This is a pan-Canadian initiative that has sparked a new dialogue aimed at protecting the jobs of local workers and securing our future as a champion of the international aerospace industry.
