START OF 2023 SUMMER SEMESTER: MAY 8

Deferring your offer of admission
Thinking about deferring the start of your graduate program to a later semester? It might be possible. First, check for which semesters your offer of admission is valid. This information is written on your letter of admission issued by the Polytechnique Montréal Registrar’s office. If your admission remains valid for one or more subsequent semesters, visit the deferring section of the GO-Poly website for more information.

Course choice

You will have to confirm your registration for 2023 summer term during the periods mentioned in the academic calendar:

  • April 12 to May 12 for the short summer semester
  • April 12 to May 19 for the long summer semester

To register, you’ll need to get your access code and password from your Student File (Dossier étudiant).

As a new graduate student, you will need to develop a study plan which will then allow you to make your course selection.

🌍 Note for international students admitted to the Professional Master's or to a Specialized Graduate Diploma (DESS):

Since course offerings in most programs are very limited during the summer semester, determine your program’s course availability before deciding to arrive in Canada for the summer semester.
We recommend that you contact your supervisor (mentioned in your offer of admission) remotely, in order to discuss the feasibility of arriving during summer months. If necessary, please refer to admission deferral.

If you plan to start your program this summer, but the course offerings in your program are insufficient to guarantee full-time enrollment, please contact us at sep-international@polymtl.ca. We will provide you with details regarding immigration rules and the options available to you.

If you wish to live in residence in the 2023 Fall term, you will also need to register on the ZUM residences website, starting now. Please note that the number of rooms available is very limited.

Renting a room during the summer does not guarantee you a spot in the fall semester, so register now to maximize your chances of securing a spot!

Immigration

At this stage, you should be in the process of obtaining your Canadian immigration authorizations: CAQ for Studies, Study Permit, Temporary Resident Visa and/or Electronic Travel Authorization.

To study at Polytechnique Montreal, most students will need a CAQ for Studies, a Study Permit, and a Temporary Resident visa or an electronic travel authorization to enter Canada. These procedures can take several months depending on your nationality, your country of residence and the Canadian Visa Office where your applications will be processed. Read more about immigration procedures.

You cannot come to Canada if you do not have all the required immigration authorizations to study. As a precautionary measure, when purchasing your airline tickets, inquire about the conditions associated with flight rescheduling or cancellation.

See our web page about booking your ticket and possible arrival dates.
