Aéro Montréal adopts a new strategic plan

Our Board of Directors adopted Aéro Montréal’s Strategic Plan for the next three years on December 12th.

Starting in June, the Aéro Montréal team, supported by consulting firm McKinsey & Company, reflected on the role our cluster should play in Québec’s aerospace ecosystem. We also reviewed our ways of working to achieve our goals, where warranted. Following this exercise, we adopted a new mission (to mobilize the stakeholders of Québec’s aerospace ecosystem to strengthen its positioning on the world stage, its capacity for innovation, and its growth) and a very ambitious new vision (to become the most innovative aerospace cluster in the world).

Vision 2025, the AIAC’s aerospace industry consultation day, was also held in Montréal last Thursday. This day, which brought together nearly 300 industry leaders, was headed by the Honourable Jean Charest. He met with the top executives of major aerospace companies and SMEs, as well as government representatives and academics, to help define the future of Canada’s aerospace industry. At the lunchtime conference, Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, reiterated the Québec government’s support for the entire industry.

On behalf of the entire team at Aéro Montréal, I wish you Happy Holidays.

Organized by Aéro Montréal and CAE, the industry day enabled 50 people and 30 companies to visit CAE and enjoy a rare guided tour of its Saint-Laurent facility. The goal of this event, which had been fully booked for several weeks, was to gain a better understanding of CAE’s challenges and opportunities through meetings with representatives from its procurement, engineering and production departments.

Private exhibition of “Echo: The Sound of Space” for members and friends of the RRAM – Montréal Phi Centre (December 19)

To mark its many successes in 2018, the Regroupement Relève Aéro Montréal (RRAM) invites its partners to the new virtual reality exhibition portraying the contemporary world through the universe’s timeless vibrations. This virtual reality exhibition invites viewers to connect with today’s world through reflections, parallels, and distant echoes. The programming reflects the best in current virtual reality works and places a deliberate emphasis on sound and stories that resonate within all of us.

Intellectual Property Management for Collaborative Development

In the aerospace industry, collaborative or joint development projects are common. Whether companies are participating in a traditional joint development project or in an open innovation arrangement, one challenge they face is how to protect the intellectual property (IP) created in the collaborative development.
