Pool Closure and FAQs

District staff are actively working on solutions to address the pool deck slipping hazard, that has resulted in its closure.

For more information regarding the Pool Closure, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions. We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

We understand this closure is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience as we work towards reopening.

Mount Garibaldi Cemetery expansion project

The Mount Garibaldi Cemetery is nearing capacity and requires expansion to continue serving the community. This project will take place in two phases, beginning March 3, 2025, with forest and vegetation clearing, followed by construction expected from July to December 2025. Once complete, the expansion will provide additional burial options, including green burials and a scattering garden, ensuring long-term cemetery services for Squamish.

During the project, some minor impacts are expected. Cemetery access will be reduced, and there will be temporary cremation delays until March 17. Nearby residents and visitors may experience noise from chainsaws, tree felling, and trucking, as well as increased truck traffic on Government Road. Additionally, the Zombie Crawl Trail will be temporarily closed, with signage posted to indicate the closure.

We appreciate the community’s patience as this important project moves forward.

Cleveland Avenue Traffic Island

Starting on Monday, March 3, through Friday, March 7, Public Works will be phasing out the traffic island located along Cleveland Avenue off Highway 99.

This work will result in lane closures along Cleveland Island to allow Public Works to safety complete this work. While disruptions to the public will be minimal since the work will take place overnight, we ask residents to remain aware of Public Works crews and to follow all signage and lane closures.

The work will be contained to the washrooms, and regular activities in the building can continue as usual.

Squamish Guns & Hoses Charity Game

Save the date! The Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game is happening on Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre.

This non-profit event raises funds for a deserving member, family, or organization in our community who is facing a significant illness or life-altering circumstance.

This year, we are proud to support Ryan Lagasse and his family. Ryan was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and is now in palliative care. He worked for many years in the District of Squamish Public Works Department.

We hope to see you all at the rink to support this deserving cause!
