Compassion fatigue: how far can you go without burning out?

Compassion fatigue is defined as a deep emotional and physical erosion that takes place when people providing care are no longer able to reinvigorate and refresh themselves. It's a state that Madeleine Fortier knew well. This month, the author tells us her story and explains what led her to write her book and develop workshops to raise the awareness of caregivers and support workers about compassion fatigue and to help them protect themselves.   • Description: Information session on many topics related to the protection of incapacitated people, i.e., who have become incapable of taking care of themselves and their affairs. Come and learn more about incapacity, the mandate of protection (formerly mandate in case of incapacity), as well as the role and responsibilities of the legal representative (mandatary, guardian and curator).

Founded in 2009, L’Appui pour les proches aidants d’aînés strives to improve the quality of life of caregivers of seniors, lighten their daily workload and ensure that they take full advantage of the resources at their disposal.

With 17 regional Appuis offices supporting local organizations dedicated to the caregivers’ wellbeing, our coverage extends accross Quebec. We make sure they can access the services that suit their needs.

Each region manages a fund and invests in various direct services designed for caregivers of seniors.
