Weekly Instructor Training Sessions

Registration Required

The Southwest Ontario locations have organized weekly Zoom sessions on Sundays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM EST starting September 1st to gather all instructors and interested members to discuss instructor training issues.

Starts September 1st and will run weekly to the end of the year.

The purpose of the sessions is to discuss best practices in how to teach each type of class.  Each type of class will be covered over a four-week period.  The importance of the instructor’s form will be stressed as well as examples of the form (model / example) that is appropriate for the level of the class.  A portion of the class will be dedicated to your own Tai Chi development stressing the importance of continuing to develop your own foundations / attending a class as a student.  The curriculum for each type of class will be reviewed.

NOTE: The Sessions are not meant as an accreditation for anyone who attends the sessions to teach a particular type of class.

The instructor training sessions will NOT be recorded. The training session slides (if any) will NOT be distributed. Some sessions have support information that will be downloadable.

Attendees must be a member of the CTCA or ATCA.  Non-members must provide an explanation where they are from and why they wish to attend.

Please send the completed registration form to attend the zoom sessions to workshop@LondonTaiChi.ca .

If you are unable to send the registration form, please send an email indicating that you have read and agree to the waiver and provide the required information.  Please provide your name and CTCA/ATCA Location.

You will receive a reminder newsletter a few days prior to the instructor training session. The reminder for the session will provide an overview of the material that will be practiced and discussed.  To get the most from the sessions, it is advised to practice the concepts and not sit passively watching the Tai Chi.  Questions are encouraged.

Pre-requisites:

  • Registration Required
  • Completed an Introduction to Tai Chi (Beginners) course from the Mr. Moy tradition
  • Open to all members of the CTCA and ATCA
  • You are welcome to attend if you:
    • currently teach a class (or have taught in the recent past)
    • assist with a class (co-teach or corner)
    • have an interest in helping in some way in the future
  • No camera required (highly recommended)
  • No microphone required (if you have questions you will have to use the chat function to ask any questions)
  • No recording of any fashion of any of the zoom session is permitted
  • Once you have registered you will receive the zoom invitation and reminders
