Mayor's Message
On behalf of King Township Council, welcome to the August edition of the King Bulletin.
Mayor's Annual Golf Tournament
Thanks to all the amazing golfers and sponsors, we were able to raise more than $64,000 at the Mayor’s Annual Golf Tournament on July 13.
It was a spectacular day at Nobleton Lakes Golf Course whose staff always outdo themselves with their hospitality. Just like in previous years, the event sold out long before golfers hit the links.
Some on-course activities included Hole-in-One’s by Lexus of Richmond Hill, Vaughan Chrysler and Serpa Automotive Boutique, pizza and coffee sampling by Motorino, Chamber chipping contest by King Chamber of Commerce, a mechanical bull, putting contest and much more.
All proceeds from the event will go towards enhancing King’s municipal programs, services and facilities.
I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.
Schomberg’s Main Street
If you haven’t experienced Schomberg’s Main Street, there are a couple of events coming up that will showcase the heart of the historic village.
The most recent Sidewalkable Saturday on July 22 drew more than 1,500 people as the Main Street was closed to traffic. Visitors were able to experience walkabout entertainment, live music, exclusive sales from Main Street businesses, free activities and a business grand opening.
The next event will be the Schomberg Street Galley which happens on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Schomberg Street Gallery.
Presented by Arts Society King, the event an outdoor, juried exhibition and sale of quality fine art. Main Street will be closed to traffic allowing for full pedestrian access to the artists and their work.
Tents line the street displaying original fine art and skilled craftsmanship all available for purchase to the public. Admission is free to all visitors, and many local shops and restaurants are close by.
Main Street’s next Township event will be from Sept. 8 to Sept. 24 for the fourth Taste of Main culinary experience hosted by Main Street restaurants and cafes.
The dining event has something for everyone, with breakfast and lunch options at both cafés, and lunch and dinner options from all other restaurants.
To keep up to date on what’s going on down on Main Street, visit schombergmainstreet.ca.
Please continue to stay volunteer, shop locally as much as you can and visit king.ca for the latest news on all things King.
Sincerely,
Mayor Steve Pellegrini
