Food Skills BC For Newcomers is a project aimed at helping people new to Canada within 10 years to secure sustainable employment. The project provides skills training to improve their employability and confidence, focusing on connecting them to entry-level positions in the agri-food processing sector, such as warehousing, restaurant and food servers, retail, kitchen helpers, bakers, and production line workers.

Some Short-Term Certifications and Training are available:

  • Emergency First Aid / Standard First Aid - including Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Super Host (and variants such as World Host)
  • Serving It Right
  • Food Safe
  • Basic Computer Certification (e.g. Microsoft Office or equivalent) and others

Information Session on Abilities Empowerment Services Program

This unique Opportunities Fund Project is designed to assist persons with diverse abilities with their employment goals. Participants will have the attention and care of working on one with a Case Manager as well as the chance to enhance their employability skills in individual and group workshops. Essential Computer Skills for the Workplace (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Upon completing this training, participants will learn Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.This five-day online course is offered by DIVERSEcity’s Skills Training Centre. Fully Government-funded Training Program, led by the Levra Foundation in collaboration with Western Community College and WorkBC, is a comprehensive initiative designed to prepare individuals for rewarding careers in community support and mental health services.

YWCA Job Futures 55+ is a free 10-week employment program that prepares job seekers who are 55+ to achieve sustainable employment through skills training and employment support.

B-Hired Youth Employability Skills program â€¯

The B-Hired program is a free online Employability Skills and Job Search Support program that offers a community for youth to develop their networking abilities, practice their communication skills to build confidence, and reduce isolation by providing opportunities to develop friendships with others in similar circumstances. $300 is paid with the completion of Employability Skills classes and completion of a certificate.

Security Systems Technician Training - ACCESS

The Canada Advanced Manufacturing Leader training program is a 12-week training program to help provide participants with skills needed to start mid-level careers within the advanced manufacturing sector including technical training, leadership skills, job readiness, and placements. The training, wid utilize a hybrid model approach with in-person and online training.
