Deadlines & important upcoming dates

 

FOR EVERYONE

Science Education Open House - Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

This event will be held in person at the Earth Sciences Building between 9:00am and 3:00pm. We will have presentations in the morning, followed by lunch and a poster session.

We will update our website and provide further details via email as we get closer to the Open House. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email us at skylight@science.ubc.ca.

FOR GRADS

2026 Summer Tuition Deadline Deferral Application, due April 30, 2026

Students that need a tuition deadline deferral because they're waiting to be paid by GRA and/or TAship appointments can apply for a tuition deferral directly through Enrolment Services. If you’re waiting for your Summer 2026 appointments to be submitted in Workday in order to provide proof of compensation, Mimi will be submitting those in early April.

FOR GRADS

May 2026 Graduation Deadlines, application Due: April 3, 2026

Students wishing to graduate in May 2026 must formally apply to graduate.
Program Completion Deadline: April 10, 2026
You must have had your thesis/dissertation approved and your program closed by April 10 in order to be approved for graduation. This is usually a few weeks to a month after you defend depending on how long revisions and collecting signatures for the necessary paperwork.

3- Under the Lens: an evening of microscopic image art - microscope image contest and exposition, Friday, April 24th 4:00-6:00pm in the Biosciences Building: co-organized with BGSA, BIF, and Characterization@UBC.

ZEDI - Zoology Equity Diversity Inclusion 
 

The Zoology Equity Diversity Inclusion (ZEDI) committee is here to address concerns and promote EDI in the department. These concerns could apply to any group of individuals who work or study in our department, including undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, administrative and research staff, and teaching and research faculty. For example, last October ZEDI hosted an event for undergraduates on tips and approaches to get started in research at UBC.
