Being mindful with email: respecting colleagues' time and attention

Email remains an important tool for sharing information with teams and colleagues across the Saskatchewan Health Authority, but each message we send adds to the volume of information our colleagues receive every day.

One simple way we can support one another is by being thoughtful about who needs to receive a message and who needs to receive a response. Before selecting "Reply All," take a moment to consider whether your response is relevant to everyone included on the original email. In many cases, replying only to the sender is the most appropriate option.

A few helpful reminders:

  • Use Reply All only when the information, question, or response is relevant to all recipients.
  • Consider whether everyone copied on an email needs to be included in your response.
  • Keep messages clear, concise, and focused on the information required.
  • When sending messages to large groups, be mindful of the impact unnecessary replies can have on inbox volume and workflow.

These small actions help reduce unnecessary email traffic and support a more efficient workplace. Most importantly, they show respect for colleagues' time and attention, allowing teams to focus on the work that matters most: supporting patients, residents, clients, families, and one another.

Thank you for helping create a more thoughtful and effective communication environment across our organization.

New Indigenous support services added to Employee Family Assistance Plan

Indigenous health-care employees and their family members now have access to culturally connected support services provided by Elders and Traditional Healers.

Provided through the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) administered by 3sHealth, the Indigenous Cognitive Behavioural Program and the Elder and Traditional Healer Support Network program were introduced on July 1.

Like all EFAP services, these tools are always free of charge and completely confidential, paid in advance by your organization to ensure you can get the help you need with total privacy. These programs greatly expand the Indigenous-specific supports available through the EFAP and support the health-system’s efforts to advance truth and reconciliation.

EFAP services are available for all Saskatchewan Health Authority employees. For full details, please visit the 3sHealth website.

Windows 11 update coming soon

Starting in July and continuing through October, eHealth Saskatchewan (eHS) will update Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) computers to the latest version of Windows 11 as part of ongoing efforts to update system security and functionality. Support for the current version of Windows 11 will end in November.

There will be no visible changes to the Windows desktop or features. This is a behind-the-scenes update that helps keep computers secure and reliable.

When your computer is scheduled for the update, you will receive an email approximately one week in advance with additional details. If your computer does not receive the update while others do, there is no need to be concerned. Some computers are scheduled later due to technical or application compatibility requirements, such as limited storage or incompatible software. eHS will follow up directly with affected users and provide additional information.

Update: 2026 is a health card renewal year

Health cards for most Saskatchewan residents are set to expire on December 31, 2026. eHealth will send renewal stickers in the mail early this fall.

eHealth is currently reminding people to make sure their address and family information on file with eHealth are up-to-date. An online and social media campaign is already underway and will run for several weeks this summer. Anyone who has moved or their family has changed in the last three years needs to update their information if they haven’t already.

eHealth is also asking for your help. Please post this reminder poster where members of the public are likely to see it. This will direct people to the eHealth website for information on health card renewal and updating their information.

Thank you for your help reaching Saskatchewan residents with this important reminder. Without a current address, stickers are returned. This means that people are missing important proof of eligibility for coverage. If you have moved in the past three years, ensure your address on file with eHealth is up to date.

Survey: Share your feedback on Translation Services

Submit by: July 17, 2026

SHA is seeking employee feedback about Translation and Interpretation Services. While these services support patient care, this survey is open to all staff, not just those who currently use them.

Your input will help improve Translation and Interpretation Services and support safe, high-quality care delivery throughout the province.

For more information, contact Translation and Interpretation Services.

 Policy Reviews and Changes

The Medication Dispensing and Delivery Procedure (SHA-08-010P10) and implementation checklist are available for training purposes on the SHA Policy and Clinical Standards document finder.

The pre-implementation period allows time for team training and preparation before the procedure takes effect on August 4, 2026. It is not expected that everything will be in place on the effective date of a new procedure. For many areas this will be a work in progress.

The implementation checklist is a tool designed to help operational managers or clinical designates and educators facilitate the transition to the new procedure.
