Crushing it: repurposing excavated rock to
create sustainable solutions at The Ottawa Hospital's new campus site
Did you know that excavation during construction can generate tens of thousands of metric tonnes of rock?
At our new campus, about 66,000 cubic metres of rock has been cleared as the parking garage is built and the site is prepped for the main hospital. Excavated material is typically hauled offsite for processing before it’s returned to construction sites to be used to backfill. Learn how repurposing excavated material onsite allowed TOH to eliminate the need for thousands of heavy dump truck loads travelling to and from the site.
