Changes to Ministry Names and Ministerial Titles

As noted in the June issue of ON Lobbying, lobbyists are responsible for ensuring that the lobbying targets in their registrations are updated following a cabinet shuffle or any changes to ministerial titles and ministry names.

The Office updates the lists of ministries and ministers’ offices in the registry after each announcement and this means that previous selections will be removed from the registry. To assist lobbyists in keeping registrations up to date, we have created a webpage that shows the previous and the new lobbying target names.

The page will be updated after major announcements, but it remains each lobbyist's responsibility to ensure that their registrations are accurate.

Did you know we provide information on lobbying compliance activities in our annual reports?

The Office initiated 206 compliance reviews in 2021-2022. A review is initiated when our Office identifies potential non-compliance with the Lobbyists Registration Act, 1998. While the majority of compliance issues are resolved quickly and informally, 22 files were assessed by the Integrity Commissioner to determine if an investigation was warranted.

This pie chart provides insight into how the compliance reviews were handled.

You can find out more about this process in the report, as well as read summaries of concluded investigations.
