Highlights of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Board of Directors Meeting of January 19, 2023


The TNRD held its Board of Directors Meeting in the Twin Rivers Boardroom of the TNRD Civic Building in Kamloops, B.C. The meeting was held in-person and via Zoom, and a recording of the meeting was uploaded to the TNRD’s YouTube channel. You can view the recording here.

Delegation: Thompson-Nicola Conservation Collaborative

The Board received a presentation by Danielle Toperczer, Program Manager of the Thompson-Nicola Conservation Collaborative. (TNCC). The presentation provided an introduction to the TNCC and its role in the Thompson Watershed, and invited the Board’s collaboration on its Conservation Planning for Climate Change advisory team.

ALC Application 215 (Monte Creek Winery)

The Board recommended that the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) support ALC Application 215, at 2420 Miners Bluff Road (Monte Creek). The Owner, Monte Creek Ranch Winery, is looking to secure approval for a new non-farm use by converting a recently-constructed farm building for commercial purposes, such as weddings and receptions. ALC Application 217 (Monte Creek Fire Hall)

The Board recommended that the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) approve ALC Application 217, at 1257 Hook Road (Monte Creek). The purpose of this application is to secure ALC approval for a non-farm use and subdivision to sever one acre of the property to build a new fire hall for Monte Creek. Read the report here.

9-1-1 Call Answering Service Contract

The Board approved a one-year contract extension with the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) to provide 9-1-1 answering service in the TNRD. The TNRD provides primary 9-1-1 answering service to all member municipalities, Electoral Areas and First Nations within the regional district boundaries. The service provide for 9-1-1 call answering is E-Comm 911, and the RDCO coordinates this partnership on behalf of the TNRD and a number of other regional district. Read the report here.

Nicola Flood Mapping Support

The Board voted to support TNRD staff participation and engagement with the Fraser Basin Council and BGC Engineering on the Nicola-Coldwater Floodplain Mapping project. Read correspondence here.

Thompson Regional Hospital District Highlights

The Thompson Regional Hospital District (TRHD) held its Regular Board Meeting of January 20, 2023 in the Twin Rivers Boardroom of the TNRD Civic Building. The meeting was held in-person and via Zoom, and a recording of the meeting was uploaded to the TNRD’s YouTube channel. View the recording here.

The TRHD Board adopted Capital Bylaw 158. This bylaw enables the TRHD to contribute 40% of Minor Capital Equipment at healthcare facilities that receive capital funding. Read the report here.
