Dear --
On Sunday, March 8, British Columbians will turn their clocks foward by one hour for the last time. Premier David Eby announced the news this week that British Columbia will move to permanent Daylight Savings Time and end the annual "spring forward, fall back" practice.
As some students begin their return to school this week in Tumbler Ridge following the horrific school shooting that took place in February, I know that our North Vancouver community continues to hold the families of the victims in our hearts. It is a tragedy that British Columbians will no doubt be grappling with for a long time.
War has also broken out in Iran, and we continue to stand with the Iranian-Canadian diaspora community across the North Shore as they navigate this complex and uncertain time. As a reminder, the federal government holds exclusive jurisdiction over international matters. Community members with questions about Canada's role in supporting loved ones in Iran should contact the Government of Canada or federal Members of Parliament.
British Columbia released Budget 2026 last month in a time of ongoing and heightened global economic uncertainty. Through these challenging fiscal circumstances, Budget 2026 makes careful choices to try to protect what matters most to British Columbians, while securing B.C.βs future. My daughter Azalea has been hard at work preparing for her anticipated promotion to big sister in July! As was the case following my first pregnancy, my North Vancouver-Lonsdale Community Office will continue to support local community members without interruption, and I expect to fully return to work in September well ahead of the fall legislative session.
