Please note that Municipal Hall will be closed on Monday, September 2. | The District of Squamish is seeking elector approval to finance portions of the following projects through an Alternative Approval Process (AAP): - Whittaker Slough Pump Station - a major upgrade resulting in a new Pump Station at Whittaker Slough to reduce flooding in the North Yards neighbourhood during high river levels and heavy rainfall.
- Xwu'nekw Park Sea Dike - an integral project resulting in the installation of a 200-meter section of sea dike to provide flood protection and increase climate resilience.
- Loggers East Drainage Diversion Pipe - construction of a new storm sewer along Finch Drive and Loggers Lane to mitigate the risk of flooding and damage to public and private infrastructure.
- Cemetery Expansion - an expansion project that includes the parking lot, maintenance yard, burial and internment spaces, new fencing and paving, restoration of historical features, and other upgrades.
- Wastewater Treatment Plan Headworks Building - a high priority project that replaces and upgrades the Headworks Building to efficiently handle and increase capacity for a growing population.
- Mamquam Bridge Resurfacing - a full deck replacement of the Mamquam Bridge to mitigate the need for ongoing maintenance and repairs of patch deck failures.
Long-term borrowing is a useful tool for municipalities that spreads the cost of large projects over the life of the project and allows today’s taxpayers – as well as future taxpayers – to pay for it. - If you are NOT OPPOSED to these bylaws, you do not need to submit any forms.

| CAMPFIRE BAN LIFTED WITHIN DISTRICT OF SQUAMISH | The campfire prohibition has been lifted in all regions of the Coastal Fire Centre, including the District of Squamish. within the District of Squamish concurrently. Campfires within the District of Squamish are only permitted with a residential campfire permit on private property. Follow the link below to view our Active and Safe Routes to School information and maps for your family. | | NOTICE OF TRAFFIC AND NOISE IMPACTS | DISCOVERY TRAIL CLOSURE Crews will be conducting ditch remediation work between Monday, September 2 to Tuesday, September 10 at the intersection of Industrial Way and Highway 99. Please note there will be intermittent slowed traffic flow on Industrial Way. Detours will be marked for cyclists and pedestrians via Production Way. SOIL REMOVAL WORK Crews will be working on a project to remove hydrocarbon contaminated soil at 39619 Galbraith Avenue. Work is targeted to complete September 10. Work will mostly occur within bylaw hours but will start as early as 2 a.m. and finish as late as 6 p.m. Work will not occur on the weekend. SECOND AVENUE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE Crews will require a road closure along Second Avenue between Victoria and Winnipeg Street on Friday, September 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sidewalk on the west side will remain accessible during this time. | FORTIS BC PROJECT Fortis BC is conducting pre-construction activities along Finch Drive and Industrial Way. Crews will be undertaking work to help identify the location of existing underground utilities in preparation for construction of the Eagle Mountain gas pipeline. This work will result in single-lane alternating traffic along Finch Drive and Industrial Way. Work is anticipated to occur from mid-August into September. The application deadline for both programs is September 27, 2024. | IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR BLACKBERRY PICKERS | The Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council, in partnership with various landowners including the District of Squamish, is conducting a control program for Japanese Knotweed. In areas where this invasive plant threatens sensitive habitats or infrastructure, it is treated with the herbicide glyphosphate, and signage is posted to indicate that the herbicide has been applied. The herbicide used has low toxicity levels and breaks down quickly, making the risk to berry pickers extremely low. However, as a precaution, please avoid picking blackberries near any Japanese Knotweed where signs are posted or that appears to have been treated. | | TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN SURVEY | Your experiences, challenges and ideas matter to us.
