Students do not have to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Media Studies to submit, as long as the work submitted is related to the field of media studies, including: - Media theory
- Media analysis (film analysis, new media analysis, art critiques, information policy/visualization research and journalism research)
- Creative works (art, prose, photography, video/audio works and new media/blended-media)

This series explores the changing views of journalism in the public space, but more importantly, asks where we go from here. Learn More | | | | WRDS 250: Evaluating Knowledge Production and Mobilization Offered in 21W Term Two WRDS 250, taught by Dr. Michael Schandorf, will be an exploration of subjects such as “fake news” and navigating through often dubious knowledge sources. This course will ask critical and practical questions about how discourse communities construct and mobilize knowledge. The course will build students’ ability to critique the creation, mobilization, and potential use/misuse of knowledge in both academic and non-academic contexts. Register Course | | | WRDS 360: Knowledge Popularization: Research Writing in New Media Offered in 21W Term Two WRDS 360, taught by Dr. Dennis Foung, will look into the current media landscape of blogs, Twitter, YouTube, and TED Talks, where research results are often shared and discussed. The course is ideal for students who wish to learn how scholarly knowledge is made accessible to the public, as well as the forms and impacts of its popularization. Students will be able to understand the purposes, moves, rhetorical structures, and linguistic features of research writing in this ever-shifting world of hashtags, snaps, and catchy sound bites.
