More Proteines

Among those who buy our cultivation kits, some are surprised to see their mushrooms develop in a strange way: elongation of the stem, no caps. The malformation results from a lack of oxygen. Like us, mushrooms breathe air and exhale carbon dioxide. Confined in an insufficiently ventilated container, they are exposed to a carbon dioxide saturation (> 1%). Cap expansion is inhibited.

The effects don't stop there though: antioxidant enzymes are activated, increasing protein, amino acid, fiber intake and increasing umami flavor.

This is the experience some have had while cultivating our kits (without following our basic instructions), but with a happy result nonetheless.

We may soon see oyster mushrooms in the grocery store that are tastier, more nutritious, easier to transport and store.

More Vitamines

Mushrooms contain ergosterol, the fungal equivalent of human cholesterol. Exposed to UVB rays (280-315 nm), ergosterol is transformed into vitamin D2.

Essential vitamin for bodybuilding, it helps protect against certain cancers, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. For an adult, the recommended daily dose in Canada is 1000 IU.

While fresh button mushrooms grown in the dark have just 40 IU per 100g, wild species like porcini can exceed 2000 IU.

Your outdoor crops, exposed to light (not too much to avoid drying out) should also benefit from this vitamin D2 natural supplement.

This year, cultivate your vitamins in the garden with our mushrooms grow kits of Wine Caps, Button Mushrooms, Shaggy Manes, Blewits and even elusive Morels or with our large choice of species to insert on logs.
