Upcoming Dates and Deadlines 
(Undergraduate Students | Graduate Students)

Oct 7Last day for payment of fees for any fee assessments incurred between September 1 and September 30.

  • Students who have not paid their fees are placed on financial hold; further registration activity is not permitted, grades are not released, and graduation diplomas are withheld. Students are assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest is assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

Oct 11: University closed for Thanksgiving. IKB Learning Centre will be open during its regular hours.

Oct 15 (Graduate Students): Last day for submission of exam copies of a doctoral dissertation to Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for transmission to the external examiner in time for December 31 program end date.

Oct 22 (Graduate Students):

  • Last day for final master's theses and doctoral dissertations to be accepted by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for degrees to be conferred at November Congregation. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm.
  • Last day for students to complete all program requirements (including major papers) for non-thesis master's degrees to be conferred at November Congregation.

Oct 29: Last day to drop Winter Term 1 courses with a W standing.

UPDATE: COVID-19 Rapid Testing Program
(Undergraduate & Graduates)

As of Tuesday, September 28, 2021, 73,779 members of the UBC community, on both campuses, have completed their vaccination status declaration.

If you have not declared your status yet, please complete the process in order to be exempt from UBC’s required COVID-19 Rapid Testing Program. If you have declared that you are fully vaccinated, a new requirement to verify your status has been issued, with proof of vaccination, here.

Face coverings (a medical or non-medical mask, or a tightly woven fabric) are still mandatory in all indoor public spaces at UBC and throughout B.C.

Return to Campus Orientation Course
(Undergraduate & Graduates)

UBC has launched a Return to Campus Orientation course that orients students to BC’s Go Forward Plan and how it aligns with Step 3 of BC’s Restart Plan. All students who fall into the following categories are asked to complete the required training prior to returning to campus:

  • Students taking an in-person class/research on campus in Winter Term 1
  • Students  living in UBC Student Housing in Winter Term 1

What IS Campus Kinnections?!
(Undergraduate Students)

Campus KINnections is a peer mentorship program that pairs upper-year students with first-year and transfer students in Kinesiology for a year-long partnership. The initiative aims to provide incoming Kinesiology students with resources, support, and guidance to ensure a smooth transition into UBC Kin. 

Throughout the year, students will meet at Campus KINnection events designed to foster a sense of community and strengthen the bond between mentors and mentees. A few events you can expect to see this year include games nights, skating, movie nights, and more!

COVID-19 Pandemic and Exercise (COPE) Trial

Congratulations to Dr. Eli Puterman and his team for their recently published research, "COVID-19 Pandemic and Exercise (COPE) trial: a multigroup pragmatic randomised controlled trial examining effects of app-based at-home exercise programs on depressive symptoms." The study reveals that at-home exercise apps help reduce depression levels in people ages 18-64.

Indigenous Undergraduate Research Mentorship Program
(Undergraduate Students)

The Indigenous Undergraduate Research Mentorship Program (IURMP) is now accepting applications for the 2021/22 cohort!

Undergraduate students, from any faculty, who self-identify as Indigenous and are interested in academic research are welcome to apply. IURMP pairs students with a faculty member on campus to learn about the variety of research being conducted at UBC. Students in IURMP will also contribute to research that interests them.

DASH is seeking responsible, enthusiastic, and caring individuals to be volunteers for the Kid Commute: A Walking School Bus pilot program, which is taking place in Vancouver and North Vancouver during the 2021-2022 school year. We are looking for volunteers willing to walk with a group of students to and/or from school at least once a week.
