Fitness Assessments for Current Changing Aging Participants

Attention all those registered in the Changing Aging program, registration for Fitness Assessments will open on March 13th at 9am! Registration can be completed online, through the phone, or in person.These fitness assessments will be held on April 11th-13th at the UBC Osborne Centre. Online Accounts

For returning participants, if you did not previously have an online account with us, one was created for you during the registration process. Keep an eye out for an email next week that will contain your username and a temporary password. Once you login with the temporary password you will be prompted to update your password. If you think you have an online account, please test your login by clicking here to make sure you can register online. Spring Registration for Changing Aging!

Changing Aging will continue in the Spring at the Osborne Centre and the Kerrisdale Community Centre!

Spring Class Registration

Registration for classes at the Osborne Centre will open on Monday April 17th at 9am!

Registration for classes at the Kerrisdale Community Centre will open on Saturday March 11th! Please contact the Kerrisdale Community Centre for more information.

New Participants

For new participants wanting to join the Changing Aging program in the Spring, please fill out our online Get Active Questionnaire. After this is filled out, we will get in touch with you within 2-5 business days about your registration!

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES - PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

Age-Related Differences in How Skeletal Muscle Responds to Lower-Body Exercise

The University of British Columbia, Exercise Metabolism Research Group is seeking males and females ages 19-30 and 65-85 for a study assessing age-related differences in how skeletal muscle responds to a single bout of resistance exercise (lower body weightlifting).

There will be three lab visits that will include:

  • Maximal fitness testing
  • A single bout of resistance exercise (lower body weightlifting)
  • Muscle biopsies and blood samples

Participants should not currently be involved in any structured resistance or aerobic training in which they participate for more than two hours per week. The total time commitment is approximately 11 hours and participants will be compensated for their time.

Exercise Behaviour Study

Looking for Team Sport, Group Exercisers or Individual Leisure Exercisers including those who use the school gym and fitness centre, intramural team players, and those who attend drop-in fitness. This is an Exercise Behaviour Study from the Unfiversity of Fraser Valley's Kinesiology Department.

Participants will be asked to:

  • Take part in a focus-group discussion session on a "one - time" basis via Zoom for approximately 60 minutes to discuss exercise addiction.
