We are excited to welcome a new Communications Assistant this month. Harvinder Sidhu is a hydrologist who has recently finished her Masters at the University of Saskatchewan, and was active in the CWRA-SYP chapter in Saskatchewan. Her work is already invigorating our social media feeds, and we are delighted to have her on board as we prepare for a busy Fall season. One of the new events on our calendar is a webinar from Public Safety Canada on "Understanding Federally Identified Flood Risk Areas (FIFRA): Context, Purpose, and Implementation", happening on September 17th. This event is free and will be presented simultaneously in French and English. Register now to save your spot!
Nous sommes ravis d’accueillir une nouvelle adjointe aux communications ce mois-ci. Harvinder Sidhu est hydrologue et vient de terminer sa maîtrise à l’Université de la Saskatchewan. Elle a également été active au sein du chapitre des étudiants et jeunes professionnels (EJP) de l’ACRH en Saskatchewan. Son travail dynamise déjà nos réseaux sociaux, et nous sommes heureux de l’avoir parmi nous alors que nous nous préparons pour une saison automnale bien chargée. This is a paid opportunity to work part-time in the Freshwater Policy and Engagement directorate of the new Canada Water Agency for 6 to 12 months and help shape Canadian freshwater policy. L’Agence de l’eau du Canada lance un programme de stage en recherche sur les politiques de l’eau douce Ce programme s’adresse aux étudiant·e·s à la maîtrise et au doctorat travaillant sur des sujets liés à l’eau douce. Il s’agit d’une occasion rémunérée à temps partiel, d’une durée de 6 à 12 mois, au sein de la Direction des politiques et de la mobilisation sur l’eau douce de la nouvelle Agence de l’eau du Canada. Les stagiaires contribueront à façonner les politiques canadiennes en matière d’eau douce. Pour 2025–2026, les priorités de recherche incluent la sécurité de l’eau et l’économie de l’eau.

The Natural Channels Initiative has recently announced the 8th Conference on Natural Channel Systems, taking place at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario from June 8-10, 2026.
The conference’s theme is “Resilient River Corridors: Navigating Challenges, Opportunities and Change.” It will look back at what factors have affected and changed river corridors since the conference was first held 30 years ago and the importance of addressing the entire river corridor in our watercourse management practices.
