Dear Friends,

This month's newsletter is a little shorter than usual as Friends collect themselves after this year's CYM online gathering. We're looking forward to seeing the initiatives and reflections that come out of the time together; please don't hesitate to send in contributions!

Thank you for reading Canadian Yearly Meeting's monthly electronic newsletter—we're glad to have you! If you know others who might like to receive this, please feel free to forward this message so that other friends can subscribe at the link below. Your help in connecting Friends across the country is deeply appreciated!

If you'd like to contribute to the newsletter, email newsletter@quaker.ca by the 15th of the month. We may not be able to fit all contributions in, but we'll try!

Update the Find a Meeting page

With restrictions lifting in some places and being reinstated in others, please take a minute to make sure the info for your Meeting's Meeting for Worship is up to date on our List of CYM Meetings during the pandemic. This list appears at the top of our Find a Meeting page, which is one of the most popular pages on our website among visitors. Note that the template for what information to submit to be included in the list is at the top.

Share your local outreach plans

What does your Meeting have planned for opportunities to invite your local communities into greater awareness of Friends? If you have upcoming plans - perhaps for International Day of Peace on Sept 21st or World Quaker Day on October 3rd - you are encouraged to share what you're doing directly with a Friend from another Meeting and/or through the CYM Facebook group.

CFSC's Get to Know Thee, Friend series continues

The series continues on September 30th with a conversation with Monica Walters-Fields. Future dates are October 28th and November 25th; December date tbd.

Simpler Meetings

"The Simpler Meetings project has been finding and sharing ways that Quaker meetings can be easier to run, and less of a burden for Quaker role holders. The aim is to spend less time on 'doing' Quakers, releasing more time for 'being' Quakers – for our witness in the world, spiritual nurture, outreach and building our Quaker communities.

Learning from Quakers across Britain, we've gathered a wide range of ideas you can use. There are many possibilities to chose from. Meetings have much more permission to do things differently than people sometimes think. Our project worker Jonathan Carmichael worked with us for three years until 18 June 2021, funded by legacies to Britain Yearly Meeting."

"Sweet Home Monteverde": website correction

Unfortunately, the link to the Sweet Home Monteverde website we shared last month had a typo in it (your f/Friendly editor forgot to check the link). We hope you found your way to the documentary anyway, but wanted to include a corrected link to the website.
