The Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses is the regulatory authority for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in New Brunswick. Our mandate is protection of the public by promoting the provision of safe, competent, ethical and compassionate care by its registrants.

ANBLPN Festival of Lights Tree

ANBLPN is pleased to once again sponsor and contribute a tree for Pine Grove Nursing Home's "Festival of Lights".

Since its inception in 2010, the Festival of Lights has brought joy to the hearts of Pine Grove residents and has become a popular seasonal tradition for people living in the greater Fredericton area. The funds raised from their sponsors are put to a great many purposes, including special beds, furniture for lounges, and a garden to improve the quality of life for residents.

The Pine Grove Foundation Festival of Lights in Fredericton can be viewed from December 1st 2022 to January 1st 2023.

Memorial Tree for LPN

The Pine Grove Nursing Home also decorated a tree in honor of Kathy Sartoris, LPN, who passed away this past spring and worked at the nursing home for several years.

ANBLPN was happy to donate a nursing cap to be used for this tree in honor of Kathy.

 "Festival of Trees"

ANBLPN also sponsored a tree for Victoria Glen Manor's "Festival of Trees" fundraiser. All money raised from this initiative goes towards helping to fund resident activities.

Refund Request Deadline

Please be advised that all registration renewal refund requests must be made by December 31st, 2022.  After this deadline no further refund requests will be considered.

Requests for refunds are only applicable to those who paid for active registration in advance (payroll deduction programs) but have since gone non-practicing or retired for 2023 (and did not work past November 30, 2022).

Licensure fees for 2023-24: ANBLPN Board of Directors

The ANBLPN Board of Directors would like to make all LPNs aware that the 2023-24 licensing fee will be increasing from $325 to $350.  This fee increase is necessary due to the rising costs of services, which includes the cost of our Medical Malpractice Liability Insurance.

Annual registration fees are used to meet the expenses incurred to fulfill the legislated mandate of public protection and provide each registrant with Medical Malpractice Liability Insurance.

New Brunswick LPNs have been fortunate to not experience a fee increase in over 6 years (2017) and with this increase New Brunswick still maintains one of the lowest registration fees across Canada.  For those enrolled in the ANBLPN pre-authorized debit program, this will equate to $38.89 per month for 9 months (January to September), which is an increase of only $2.76 per month.

All LPNs have been emailed a letter from the Board of Directors explaining the fee increase, and you can also view this letter HERE.

Below is a snapshot of LPN registration fees across Canada.

If you have questions, please contact our Executive Director at execdir@npls.ca

Have Your Say!

The validation survey for the updated Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses is NOW OPEN! We invite all members to take part in this important survey - the deadline to respond is December 17, 2022.

This is your opportunity to share your views on the proposed draft. This feedback will be used to finalize the document before being approved by the Canadian Council of Practical Nurse Regulators (CCPNR) board for launch in 2023!

Learning Goals for 2023

As we prepare to enter into the new year, now is the time to start thinking about what learning goals you would like to accomplish for 2023.  By setting your goals early, you have a full year to accomplish them.

Every LPN in New Brunswick must comply with the annual Continuing Competence Program (CCP) in order to remain actively registered in good standing.  LPNs will complete their self-assessment, using the CCP Self-Assessment Tool, to review their Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.  Once you complete your self-assessment, you will have a better idea of what learning goals you should be aiming for.

There are several documents and tools available to guide you through this process. Please click the links to get you on the right track for CCP!
