Caring cards for BCIT students on National Philanthropy Day

This past National Philanthropy Day, hundreds of BCIT students were surprised to receive special messages of encouragement from donors. Approximately 450 notes that contained first-hand insight and inspirational advice, were collected from BCIT alumni donors and handed out to students on November 15. Read more.

 

BCIT and Teck announce opening of Teck Copper Innovation Hub

BCIT and Teck announced the opening of the new Teck Copper Innovation Hub. Made possible by Teck's $1.75 million donation, the facility will help BCIT researchers and students explore the use of copper in health care. The hub, located in the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation, will use 3D printing to produce new devices and advance research. Read more

 

Forestry-sector leaders contribute $2.5M towards INSPIRE

BCIT recently announced a combined $2.5 million gift from forestry-sector leaders towards INSPIRE. The donation, which will benefit BCIT students in over 20 trades and technology programs, will help foster economic growth in BC through the new Trades and Technology Complex. Cmolik and BCIT welcomed over 70 inner-city youths to campus

BCIT Foundation and the Cmolik Foundation hosted more than 70 inner-city youths from Lena Shaw Elementary School to the new Health Sciences Centre (HSC). The Grade 5 students explored diverse career opportunities, met with Cmolik Scholarship recipients, and participated in nine interactive stations at the HSC. BCIT is proud to partner with the Cmolik Foundation to support students and youth in BC.

 

BCIT launches the first Next Generation Sequencing Lab

BCIT is excited to announce the launch of the new Clinical Genetic Technology program‘s Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) lab in the new Health Sciences Centre (HSC). The first of its kind to offer hands-on NGS training at a Canadian post-secondary, the lab has cutting-edge genetic testing capabilities. Thanks to donors, the HSC offers innovations to enhance teaching and learning at BCIT. Read more.

 

BCIT Foundation raises $61K for critical programs and services 

During the holidays, BCIT partners and donors came together to support the BCIT Foundation’s annual holiday campaign. The campaign raised funds for BCIT Early Assist, student bursaries, and the Lunch Program, which support the educational journey of students at BCIT. Thanks to our donors, we raised more than $61,700 during the 2022 holiday season. Learn more about giving.

 
 

Dr. Jeff Zabudsky announced as next BCIT President

The BCIT Board of Governors has named
Dr. Jeff Zabudsky as the Institute’s next President. Dr. Zabudsky’s appointment is the result of an extensive search following the retirement of President Kathy Kinloch in July 2022.
