Seniors Property Tax Rebate Program

Attention Crowsnest Pass Seniors!

We’re excited to offer a property tax rebate tailored for low-income seniors like you! This program aims to shield you from property tax hikes over a generous four-year period.

To qualify, you (and anyone residing in your home) must be receiving the Federal Guaranteed Income Supplement. Ensure your taxes are paid or enrolled in our preauthorized payment plan, and remember, the property needs to be your primary residence. Don’t forget, the Seniors Rebate application is required each year as they don’t carry forward.

🗓️ Mark your calendars! The deadline for applications is December 15 every year. For more details, reach out to our tax clerk at 403-563-2203.

Seniors' Utility Rate Reduction – Time to Renew!

It's that time of year again! If you're part of the Seniors' Rate Reduction Program, remember to renew your application before April 30, to keep your discount.

To continue receiving the reduced rate, simply fill out the application form at this link and submit it along with a copy of last year's T4A (OAS) to the Municipal Office before the deadline.

If you have any questions, our Utility Department is happy to help! Give us a call at 403-562-8833.

March Safety & Enforcement Focus

Traffic Safety Spotlight

Buckle Up – Every Trip, Every Seat!

Seatbelts save lives! It may seem obvious, yet statistics from the Alberta Traffic Safety Calendar reveal that unrestrained passengers still account for many fatalities in vehicle collisions.

✅ Everyone must be buckled up, front and back!

✅ Ensure children are in the right car seat or booster for their age, weight, and height. Get your fit checked at a certified inspection station.

✅ Remember: seatbelts work; airbags are not enough!

🚗 Stay Safe on the Road

Aggressive Driving & Fatigue

Two major culprits of serious crashes in Alberta:

- Aggressive Driving: Tailgating, unsafe lane changes, and speeding endanger everyone. Allow yourself extra time to avoid rushing.

- Driver Fatigue: Feeling tired? Pull over! Plan for breaks every two hours on long trips and avoid late-night departures whenever possible.

🐾 Bylaw Focus — Animal Control & Leash Rules

As temperatures rise, more people and pets are out enjoying the outdoors — and that’s wonderful! Here’s what you need to remember:

- Leash Rules in Crowsnest Pass: Dogs must be on a leash in all public spaces unless in designated off-leash areas. This ensures the safety of your pet, other animals, and the community.

- Always clean up after your pet

- Remember, even friendly dogs can cause mishaps — keep them close!

Off-leash pets can surprise cyclists and runners, approach children, or get into disputes with other dogs. Leash rules help everyone enjoy public spaces safely.

📞 Report Animal Control Complaints: Call 403-562-8833 / or through our online reporting here

CROWSNEST PASS ADULT EDUCATION

PEAKS TO PINES RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION & CROWSNEST CRUISERS

PEAKS TO PINES RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

We are very happy to announce that the greenhouse at Peaks to Pines Seniors Lodge is officially finished and fully wheelchair-accessible. Residents are busy planting flower seedlings for the planters placed in the courtyards at the Lodge, as well as vegetables, such as radishes, peas, and carrots. Last year, more than 50 lbs of produce was donated to our Food Bank! Heartfelt thanks to Northback Holdings, the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, Spring Break Flower Farm, and the many individual who helped make this dream a reality! To see the joy on the faces of the residents as they work in the soil is…priceless!

We are a registered charity and issue tax receipts for donations of $25 or more. Name plates are mounted on a Wall of Thanks in the lobby of Peaks to Pines Seniors Lodge for donations of $100 or more. Logos of donors may be placed on the Crowsnest Cruisers van for donations of $5,000 or more to that service. Donors are also recognized on social media. We accept donations by cheque, cash, or e-transfer to peakstopinesresidents@gmail.com and sincerely appreciate your support! Please check out our website at www.p2pra.ca. It includes information about our fundraising efforts, volunteer opportunities, an ‘In Memory’ page, list of donors, and much more!

Out-of-town return trips: Pincher Creek $35; Fort Macleod $75; Lethbridge $100; and Calgary $200. Subsidies are available for individuals who qualify.

If possible, please try to arrange appointments in Pincher Creek on the second Tuesday of the month and in Lethbridge on the third Thursday of the month. Your help with this is appreciated!

Special thanks to TC Energy and Boom Construction for their generous donation towards the Cruisers!

We are always in need of volunteer drivers. If you have a Class 1, 2, or 4 driver's license (or are willing to obtain one), and able to help us once or twice a month, we’d love to hear from you!
