Cochrane Fire Services, in partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is participating in Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4–10, 2026. Charge into fire safety and learn safe charging tips, battery recycling info and how to enter our colouring contest.

Railway safety

Cochrane’s active railway corridor runs through areas where people live, work, learn and travel every day. Remember to cross railway tracks only at designated crossings and to avoid using informal routes through the railway corridor.

September 8 -  The Town of Cochrane Eco Centre has earned the Alberta Recycling Management Authority’s (ARMA) 2026 Collection Site Award of Excellence.

Cochrane’s vision for the next four years
now has a clear path to action.

Earlier in September, Mayor Nagel and Council formally adopted the Town of Cochrane’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan in its entirety, including the key projects, initiatives and timelines that will guide how Council’s priorities are delivered. 

This Strategic Plan focuses on five priority areas, including:

  • Responsible community growth
  • Strong financial strategy
  • Infrastructure delivery
  • A thriving economy
  • Housing for people

Together, they focus the Town’s work on balancing responsible growth, reliable services and infrastructure, financial sustainability, economic opportunity and quality of life.
