Congratulations to Jan Hare and Moss Norman for being one of four teams across UBC awarded Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) Fund grants. These inaugural grants are designed to support innovative research projects on the Vancouver campus that uphold strategic sustainability priorities and embody the principles of a living lab.

Drs. Hare and Norman will use their award to support their project (Re) Imagining Indigenous-Centered UBC Campus Recreation. The project will address two UN Sustainable Development Goals, including ‘Good Health’ and ’Sustainable Cities and Communities.' It will respond to several priority calls to action within UBC’s Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP), with an over-arching objective to decolonize campus space as well as advance and support Indigenous self-determination through socially and culturally sustainable campus recreation.

KIN Student Xueqing Zhou's Research Article Published in the Journal of Neurotrauma

Xueqing Zhou is a fourth-year Kinesiology student. While a student in a KIN 499 directed study course, supervised by Dr. Tania Lam, Xuenqing's project evolved into a full publication that was co-written by Xueqing Zhou, Alison Williams and Tania Lam. The paper, titled "Effects of Exercise-Based Interventions on Urogenital Outcomes in Persons with Spinal Cord Injury: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis, was published in the February issue of Journal of Neurotrauma -- one of the leading journals in the field.

When asked about her accomplishment Xueqing states, “I am really excited and proud of this publication. Bladder/sexual health is a salient topic that is often under-discussed. Fortunately, it has been receiving increased attention lately, especially in the context of spinal cord injury. It’s great to learn about what we do and do not know given the current literature. I am passionate about exploring the power of exercise from a neurophysiological perspective.”
