Fitness and Mobility Exercise (FAME) Program

The FAME program is an evidence-based exercise class exercise for adults recovering from a stroke. The program is adapted from the highly successful original FAME program developed by Dr. Janice Eng at the University of British Columbia which has been shown to improve strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, bone density and reduce falls in people recovering from a stroke.

If anyone is interested in this program, please fill out the waitlist form here and we will be in touch when a spot opens up.

Brain Wellness Program

The Brain Wellness Program is an evidence-based exercise class for people with chronic brain conditions. It also features coordination and cognitive exercises to challenge the brain.

Student Surveys - Responses Needed

Transportation Barriers to Exercise

As part of a course-based research project for KIN 464: Health Promotion and Physical activity, a team of Kinesiology students is conducting a study to identify barriers to exercise participation. The Principal Investigator on this project is Dr. Andrea Bundon (andrea.bundon@ubc.ca). If you are aged 50+ and live in the University Endowment Lands, Kerrisdale and Dunbar area, they would really appreciate it if you completed their survey.

The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and your contribution will allow the team of students and UBC BodyWorks to provide greater physical activity and exercise opportunities for people on UBC Vancouver.

Barriers to On-Campus Fitness Facilities

A group of Kinesiology students is conducting a study investigating the perceived barriers experienced by current and future Bodyworks clients when accessing on campus fitness facilities. If you have attended any UBC fitness programs before or exercised through a UBC facility, they would love to hear from you!
