ABOUT OUR GUEST CONDUCTOR MAXIM RYSANOV

Named at the Grammy Awards, Ukraino-British violist and conductor Maxim Rysanov has established himself as one of the most dynamic and charismatic musicians in the world. As a violist, he is best known as a high-calibre guest on the stage of international musical events, such as the BBC Last Night of the Proms or festivals in Edinburgh, Salzburg and Verbier. In parallel to the viola, Maxim had a flourishing career as a conductor, often combining conducting and conducting as a soloist in the same concert.

ABOUT OUR SOLOIST JULIE TRIQUET

At the age of three, Julie began studying the violin under the direction of professor Claude Létourneau, and then continued her apprenticeship at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec. Later in her career, she received three annual bursaries from the Canada Council for the Arts, giving her access to the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, USA. She worked there under the direction of Masters David Cerone and Aaron Rosand. During her studies in Philadelphia, she received the coveted Sylva Gelber Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts. In 1982, Julie won first prize in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra competition. This happy event opened the doors of the best orchestras in Quebec where she distinguished herself as a soloist.
