Delegations and Presentations

Kimberley Heritage Museum - Interpretive Heritage Panel Project

Presenters Carol Fergus and Marie Stang provided Council with an update on the Interpretive Heritage Panel Project, which aims to develop and install a series of interpretive panels throughout the community to showcase Kimberley's rich history. The group plans to install six panels over the next year in multiple locations to make local history accessible to residents and visitors. The project aims to build pride in these special places and events, strengthen community identity, and honour the stories that have shaped Kimberley and the area. Bylaws, Permits, And Policies

Bylaw No. 2798, 2025-2029 Five-Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2782, Amendment No.3, 2026 for consideration of first three readings

Council provided first three readings to this bylaw, which will allow staff to update budgeted capital expenditures for 2026 to coincide with those detailed in year one of the 2026-2030 Capital and Non-Capital Project Plan that was approved by Council at the December 1st, 2025, Special (Budget) Meeting. The amendment will be brought back to a future meeting for adoption. See the staff report for details on the proposed amendments.

Aligning Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaws to Housing Needs - Adoption of Amending Bylaws - Bylaw No. 2793, Amendment No. 8, 2025 to City of Kimberley Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2600, 2018; Bylaw No. 2794, Amendment No. 41, 2025 to City of Kimberley Alpine Resort Zoning Bylaw No. 2016, 1999; Bylaw No. 2795, Amendment No. 182, 2025 to City of Kimberley Zoning Bylaw No. 1850, 1994.

Following several months of public consultation, which included multiple public Council meetings, three open houses, two surveys, stakeholder engagement and a public hearing, Council approved the above-noted bylaws. New Business

2026 Project/Event Grants Recommended Allocation

Council approved the recommended Project/Event Grant allocations for 2026, as presented in the Manager of Community Development and Communications' report. This year's allocations are as follows:

 

Individual Travel Expense Grant Application

Staff requested and received Council approval to provide a Travel Expense Grant to Kimberley Athlete Quinn Unger to support travels to the Stratton Mogul Nor Am Cup Finals in Vermont in March 2026. Good luck, Quinn!

Proposed Holiday Closure of Select Municipal Facilities

CAO Hendricks requested and received Council approval to implement holiday seasonal closures at City Hall and other City facilities as appropriate and dependent on the timing of the Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day statutory holidays in any given year. 


The Council meeting concluded at 8:17 p.m. The next Council meeting takes place on Monday, January 19th, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
