Update on Your Health Quality BC Contacts

Dear Patient Voices Network members,

I’m writing first to thank you for your ongoing partnership and for all that you do to improve health care in BC. Your voices and experiences are integral to improving health services for everyone in BC. I also want to share a staffing update at Health Quality BC that may affect your current point of contact with us.

Health Quality BC, like many organizations, has faced financial pressures and we have taken a number of measures to reduce costs. Unfortunately, we have come to understand that some of our project-based funding (time-limited) will not be renewed.

As a result, we have had to make the difficult decision to reduce the size of our workforce. As part of these organizational changes, Charmaine Niebergall’s position has been impacted and as a result she is no longer with HQBC. We are very grateful for all of the achievements and contributions that Charmaine has made during her time here. We know how much she enjoyed working with you and how deeply she valued the importance of the patient voice to improve quality of care.

Going forward, we do want to share with you who you can reach out within the Health Quality BC team related to our work to advance the patient and public voice, including the Patient Voices Network:

  • Andrew Wray, Executive Director
We are very excited to share that Andrew Wray, who has been with HQBC since 2009, now has responsibility for this portfolio. He’s thrilled to have the opportunity to be more strongly connected to this work. Andrew can be reached at Mark can be reached at andrew.wray@healthqualitybc.ca.

  • Mark Matthew, Director
Mark provides overall leadership to this portfolio, as well as our work in Indigenous Health. He is always keen to be available to answer any questions and to hear your ideas and feedback. Mark can be reached at mark.matthew@healthqualitybc.ca.

  • Briar Mayoh, Project Coordinator
Briar has been with Health Quality BC for nearly three years, supporting the Quality Forum and other initiatives. She’s thrilled to now be supporting engagement opportunities and the work of PVN and leading the What Matters to You? initiatives. Briar can be reached at briar.mayoh@healthqualitybc.ca.

  • Jami Brown, Engagement Leader
Jami, who many of you know, continues in her role. She will help to lead PVN and is currently also leading our new community engagement work through the BRAID project. Jami can be reached at jami.brown@healthqualitybc.ca.

  • Irina Apostu, Program Assistant
Irina, who many of you are also familiar with, will continue to support PVN as well as our Indigenous Health portfolio. Irina can be reached at irina.apostu@healthqualitybc.ca.

We’re committed to making this a smooth transition and ensuring you continue to feel supported and connected. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly as well at christina.krause@healthqualitybc.ca.

Sincerely,
