IMAGES OF OUR CONCERT ON MARCH 9

Our guest conductor Maxim Rysanov, accompanied by our solo violin Julie Triquet and our Musici, gave us a magnificent concert last Thursday at the Pierre-Mercure hall of the Pierre-Péladeau Centre. The programme included Mozart’s Symphony Concertante and Symphony No 29 in A major. In addition Maxim Rysanov did us the honor to direct the variations of Malcolm Arnold on a Ukrainian theme and offered us some additional surprises, such as Mélody for cello and strings by Myroslav Skoryk (played on viola) and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Invention à deux voix en fa mineur BWV 180.

The Ukrainian musician did not fail in his reputation by giving an admirable concert, marked by a joy of musical sharing

(…) the association Maxim Rysanov and I Musici is now a guarantee of great concert.

(…) the mix with Julie Triquet was remarkable (...), the solo violin of I Musici held its rank quite remarkably.

UPCOMING CONCERTS

April 13, 2023 at 7:30 p.m.

The syrinx is the vital organ that enables birds to sing and serenade us with their amazing melodies. It was also the name of a nymph in Greek mythology who was chased by Pan and helped by the river. She became the reed with which Pan made his famous flute. Join us for a great flute festivity featuring solo recorders, recorder duets, recorders with orchestra, solo flutes, flutes with orchestra, and flute and recorder duets. The greatest composers will highlight each festive iteration, whether through Vivaldi’s and Telemann’s stunning virtuosity, Debussy’s intoxicating smoothness, or Bach’s emotive and timeless intensity.

Here’s yet another chapter in Yuli’s Heritage, a project we started last year. Our artist in residence, the splendid cellist Stéphane Tétreault, will present Boccherini’s sensual Concerto in B-flat major. Stéphane will join our cello section after his solo performance to play my transcription of one of Beethoven’s key quartets, the majestic Quartet Op. 127, written at the same time as the Ninth Symphony. To start the concert, we will all take in a new commissioned work of which we reserve you the surprise.
