Province funds 20 new sober living spaces in Lloydminster

The Government of Saskatchewan is providing more access to addictions recovery services by funding 20 new second-stage sober living spaces in Lloydminster.

The $225,000 in annual funding to the Oxford House sober living spaces will provide Saskatchewan residents in recovery with a supportive, substance-free environment.

Women Leading Philanthropy announces 2026 grant candidates

Three physician leaders have been selected as short-listed candidates for the 2026 Women Leading Philanthropy (WLP) $100,000 Grant:

Dr. Camelia Adams — Saskatchewan Trauma Clinic Initiative: Improving Care, Advancing Research, and Training the Next Generation
Dr. Elizabeth Miazga — MyEndo: Advancing App-Based Care for People Affected by Endometriosis and Chronic Pelvic Pain
Dr. Erika Penz — Co-Designing a Women’s Peer Navigation and Trust Pathway at RUH

Women Leading Philanthropy (WLP) brings together women donors to support innovative projects led by women physicians at Royal University Hospital.

On September 21, WLP donors will hear directly from each candidate as they present their projects before casting their votes to determine the recipient of this year’s $100,000 grant.

In-Scope Employee Performance Reviews: What you need to know

Performance reviews give you and your Manager/Supervisor an opportunity to discuss your performance, recognize strengths and contributions, and identify priorities for learning and growth. They provide a dedicated time to exchange feedback and discuss how your work supports team and organizational goals. They are also a chance for you to ask questions and set your goals.

Permanent and temporary full-time and part-time in-scope employees receive a performance review each year for their primary position, with reviews taking place throughout the year.

Easier Access to the Performance Review Website
Starting August 28, 2026, it will be easier to access to the in-scope employee performance review website. Simply follow these steps:

Join the Innovation Learning Series: Design Thinking

This six-part virtual series is designed to immerse participants in the principles and practices of design thinking—a proven approach to tackling complex challenges in healthcare and beyond.

Over six sessions, you’ll gain practical experience and tools to help you:

Build empathy and define real-world problems.
Generate innovative, human-centered solutions.
Test and refine ideas through hands-on prototyping and feedback.
Translate creative thinking into actionable change.

The learning series is designed balancing "learning of theory” followed by “learn by doing,” encouraging active participation and applied experimentation—not a passive learning experience. You'll be joining a community of like-minded healthcare professionals who are committed to driving positive change across the system.

When: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (lunch hour)
Where: Hosted via MS Teams using Mural for visual collaboration.

Cyber Moment: Cybersecurity Awareness Training update

Thank you to everyone for completing the 2025 cyber training which helps strengthen cybersecurity across SHA. The 2025 training cycle has now concluded.

As part of a health system-wide initiative led by eHealth Saskatchewan, SHA is transitioning to a new Cybersecurity Awareness Learning Management System to deliver the 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Training. The new platform will provide an improved learning experience, enhanced reporting capabilities, and a more scalable approach to cybersecurity awareness training across our workforce.
Additional information, including timelines and next steps for the 2026 training, will be shared in the coming weeks.

Clinical Documentation

Vaginal Pessary: Insertion, Care, and Removal

CS-CP-0013 Vaginal Pessary: Insertion, Care, and Removal is effective August 27, 2026.

This clinical procedure has been revised to enable healthcare professionals (Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Physiotherapists) to manage established vaginal pessary treatment in community, long-term care, and acute care settings where patients are unable to self-manage their pessary. Key updates include:

Revised roles and responsibilities for most responsible practitioners and healthcare providers
Clarified certification requirements for performing pessary care for up to one year
Creation of a stand-alone SHA 0740 Vaginal Pessary Care - Skills Checklist to support clinical practice
Added links to related clinical resources, including Pain Assessment and Management clinical documents
Revised equipment, resources and procedural instructions based on feedback

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccine

Effective August 24, 2026, all long term care (LTC) and personal care home (PCH) residents aged 60 years and older who have never received a Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine dose at any age are eligible to receive one publicly funded dose of RSV vaccine. For more information, refer to the Population Health Branch Ministry of Health RSV Vaccine Bulletin, RSV Vaccine Fact Sheet, and Saskatchewan Immunization Manual (SIM) Chapter 10 Abrysvo and Arexvy RSV vaccine product pages.

The new order set RSV Vaccine Administration in Continuing Care (CS-OS-0023) is for use in LTC.

SHA 0152 Immunization Record - LTC has been updated and must be used for documentation in LTC.

The following resources have been updated and must be used in LTC and PCH to obtain informed consent for those without capacity:
