PhD position | Geographies of Petrochemicals | Pennsylvania State University

Dr. Jennifer Baka is starting a new NSF-funded project to study the emerging petrochemical industry in the Ohio River Valley. The project is situated in political-industrial ecology, which aims to situate resource flows in their broader political economic contexts. This will be a very interdisciplinary project that will utilize qualitative and quantitative methods and include fieldwork. Ideal candidates will have backgrounds in fieldwork-based geographies of Appalachia and natural resources and have a strong commitment to forging more environmentally just ways of engaging the world.
