June anniversary meeting 🎈🎂 🎈 🎉 🎈

June’s guild meeting will be held on Monday, June 19 at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, 949 W. 49th Ave. Doors open at 6:30pm and the meeting will begin at 7:00pm.

Come celebrate our guild’s 13th birthday! Join in the fun by bringing:

a wrapped gift to swap (this is a carry over from our cancelled December party). Gift value to be under $10. It can be sewing-related, perhaps a little something that you’ve made!? Thrifting or regifting is fine.
any VMQG logo-coloured mini quilts that were made to celebrate our 10th anniversary and were meant to hang at 2020 Showcase.
any guild memorabilia that you may have to give, such as tote bags, buttons or photos.

Good news: the construction around the church is complete (yay!) so access to our meeting space is now clear.

Curves and Transparencies

Carolina Oneto

In this four-hour zoom workshop you will design a mini quilt top from scratch. Carolina will talk about colour theory and how to create the transparency effect with colour and fabrics. You will learn how to cut fabrics with complex shapes and join them by machine.

Best fabric stores + quilt-related services

What are your go-to places to shop for quilt supplies and services?! 😍

Please tell us about your favourite fabric stores or quilt-related service providers to include in the VMQG website, under Resources. We'd like to provide a list of the best places to get fabric and all the other supplies that we typically use to make our beautiful handmade things. Things like, Products: solid colour fabric, designer fabric, notions, tools, sewing machines, etc.; Services: classes, long-arm quilting, sewing machine repair, who has good delivery options (fast shipping or in-person pick-up, or both); who has the best promos/sales/points programs, etc.

Our members want to know about the best places to go for the things we need/want, so a trusted recommendation from another VMQG member goes a long way. We want to support our members with valuable information, and we want to support the businesses that support us!
