AT CENTRE LAC-BROME. | The Carke Terrace Is Now Open | The Town of Brome Lake is proud to have inaugurated the Carke Terrace, a brand new public space on the lakefront, located at 393 Bondville Road. With the Carke Terrace, residents now have a third public access point to Brome Lake, in addition to Tiffany Park and Douglass Beach. The project was carried out in two phases. The first phase, completed in the summer of 2024, transformed the lakeside property into a welcoming and accessible space. The work included landscaping the site, installing a dock for non-motorized boats, and creating a relaxation and picnic area for users. The second phase, completed in June 2025, led to the construction of a washroom facility. The entire project represents an investment of $1.1 million. For more details, click here. | Need to Call Us? The permit is free and easy to apply for online by clicking here. Some companies may urge you to proceed quickly without mentioning this requirement. However, all cutting without a permit is prohibited, regardless of the circumstances. The regulations are intended to protect our forest cover and biodiversity and ensure the quality of our landscapes. Trees are part of our collective heritage. A permit may be issued if the tree is dead, irreversably diseased, hazardous, or hindering the growth of nearby trees. It is also possible for construction work involving tree removal. This type of tree removal will be handled in conjunction with the building permit. Before taking any action, check with the Planning Department or visit the Town website. Thank you for contributing to a healthy and sustainable environment! | Residential Swimming Pools: Significant Changes Ahead | By September 30, 2025, all residential pool owners must ensure that their facilities comply with the new standards. One important change this year: exemptions based on older installations (commonly known as "grandfather clauses") no longer apply. This means that you must comply, even if your facilities were compliant when your pool was installed. Here are the main requirements: - Install a fence at least 1.2 meters high, with no elements that could be used to climb over it and no openings large enough for an object 10 cm in diameter to pass through (between the bars or between the ground and the bottom of the enclosure).
- Gates must have self-closing and self-latching mechanisms.
- Equipment such as heating and filtration systems or any other fixed elements must not be accessible to young children or must be installed more than one meter from the pool.
