Bike to Work Week: Team IRES!

Last week was Bike to Work Week and Team IRES logged:

728 km - equivalent to the approximate distance it would take to bike from Vancouver to Banff National Park.

79 trips equivalent to approximately 40 days worth of commuting to and from work.

21,843 cals burned - equivalent to approximately 48 cheeseburgers or 182 fried chicken drumsticks.

158 kg of greenhouse gases saved - equivalent to approximately the same amount of CO2 absorbed by the average tree after 7 years.

Got a great climate solutions idea that’s never been tested before?

The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions is now receiving applications under its Opportunity Projects Program, which supports innovative research ideas and approaches for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Targeting new entrants and emerging leaders, this program will encourage researchers to take bold, but calculated, risks in pursuit of high-impact results. Awards are capped at $60,000 per year, for up to three years.

PHRN 2019 Call for Abstracts now open

The Pacific Housing Research Network (PHRN) Steering Committee is seeking submissions for the 2019 Symposium. Submissions should be focused on housing research and promising practices from community-based practitioners, academics and government researchers from across housing sectors (i.e., policy, technical, cultural, health, social services, political, economic, social) who will help draw the connections between research and practice. We also encourage graduate and senior undergraduate students at post-secondary institutions across BC to submit their research.
