2023 Annual Fall Faculty Symposium - Tuesday, September 5

Following the Zoology Graduate Student Orientation, this is a great way for new graduate students and the rest of the department to meet and mingle!

Join us at 1:30 pm at the BRC atrium for Cookies and Coffee followed by four talks by four zoology research faculty members.

Imagine Day - Tuesday, September 5

Start of term is right around the corner – starts on September 5th, with “Imagine UBC Day”. BiologyUBC is planning the Biology Imagine activities, and need your help welcoming the Biology students.

2024 Liber Ero post-doctoral fellows - due November 1, 2023

The Liber Ero Fellowship is open to candidates from any country whose research furthers conservation goals within Canada. Fellows must be hosted at a Canadian institution, with mentorship teams drawing from expertise in non-governmental organizations, government, and universities.

Biosci East wing - starting September 2023

The Zoology Admin offices has moved to Biosci East wing, rooms 3041 to 3052. The printers that usually are located in the mailing room have moved to the Biosci South wing in the alcove area between the East and South wings

  • Understanding Your Zoology Stipend
    Mimi will be hosting an info session for Zoology grad students to give an overview on how student stipends are organized and set up for each academic year, the difference between your different funding sources, common problems we may run into with different funding sources, and what you should do if your pay is incorrect (hint: contact Mimi).
         When: Wednesday, September 20 at 4pm
         Where: Biosci room 4223, West Wing)

    There will be another session in early October for students who can’t make it to this one so stay tuned

    Biology TAs please mark your calendars for orientation on September 6th from 10AM to 3PM! All TAs are expected to participate. Faculty and instructors, please have your TAs sign up and participate. Immediately afterwards at 3PM there will also be a union orientation from CUPE representatives regarding the new TA collective agreement”.
