Message from the President | | Dear members, dear partners, While the crisis has significantly impacted our industry, we need to seize the moment of the recovery to reinvent ourselves. We need to re-examine our strengths and begin a transformation towards environmentally sustainable business models. As IATA recently reminded us, airlines already surpassed their commitment to reduce their emissions by 1.9% per year over the period 2009 to 2020. By 2050, the goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% compared to 2005 levels. All the companies in the cluster - OEM, equipment suppliers, key players in maintenance and repair and SME - will play a decisive role in achieving these objectives. And to make these changes a success, we must take a systemic approach, adopting a collaborative approach that will strengthen our presence on these key issues for the future of the industry. Aéro Montréal launches the Green and Sustainable Recovery Committee Leveraging the many assets in its region and its companies’ capacity for innovation, the Québec aerospace cluster wants to accelerate the industry’s strategic positioning in environmental matters. It is therefore launching a dedicated committee: the Green and Sustainable Recovery Committee. Created in line with measures proposed by the Alliance for the Aerospace Recovery, this committee aims to be inclusive and representative of the various sectors of the industry. Its mission will be to conduct a strategic monitoring, both locally and internationally, of programs and support available for the ecological shift. It will also strengthen the sector’s messaging regarding its commitment to a green recovery. With these actions, it will tactically deploy a green action plan within the industry. This committee will favour a collaborative approach with the exchange and sharing of best practices to accelerate a movement initiated before the crisis began. It will be an undeniable asset to help the Québec aerospace industry stay in the race. Recognizing that these changes are taking place on a global scale, Aéro Montréal will take advantage of the Global Supply Chain Summit 2021 Aerospace (May 10-11 2021) to commence the strategic monitoring, to take stock of environmental challenges around the world, and to hold discussions on the role that international collaborations can play in addressing them. Through these actions and the power of our mobilization, I am convinced that we will succeed in building a more environmentally friendly industry for tomorrow. | | | | | Global Supply Chain Summit 2021 Aerospace | | | | | | Registration is now open: do not miss this chance and book your Virtual Pass! This challenge, launched in December 2020 by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Industry, aims to have companies set a goal of 50% gender parity on boards of directors and senior management. It also commits them to achieving significant representation (30%) of underrepresented groups on these governance bodies. Libellule Monde, Bell Textron Canada, CAE, Lockheed Martin Canada, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Concordia University are just some of the companies in the cluster that have joined forces with Aéro Montréal for this challenge. Congratulations to them for their commitment! | | | | | | The latest news about the Québec aerospace industry. | | | | | | Bombardier Marks 50th Global 7500 Aircraft Delivery Milestone | Bombardier announced that it delivered the 50th Global 7500 aircraft.
