Filming in Abbotsford

The City of Abbotsford has numerous advantages for creative industries. Strategically located only 45 minutes from Vancouver (the third largest film hub in North America), Abbotsford is home to many unique filming locations, has access to talented labour, and is affordable and accessible for the industry.

Growth of the film sector in Abbotsford is supported by lower costs for productions. Film permitting costs, location costs and other associated fees are typically lower in Abbotsford than other municipalities in British Columbia. Film productions in Abbotsford are also eligible for additional Motion Picture Tax Credits. These savings typically make up for the additional costs incurred from transporting cast, crew, and equipment to Abbotsford.

Did you know that there are Motion Picture Tax Credits to encourage film and television live-action, VFX and animated productions in British Columbia? These tax credits are labour-based refundable corporate income tax credits that are administered by Creative BC.
