NEWS

• We had the pleasure of meeting with delegates from Mongolia on March 23rd at 311 Jarvis and March 24th at 361 University! We shared information about our family mediation and information services, and answered many thoughtful questions from the delegates.
   
• We have a presence each Thursday at 10 Armoury St with a view to determine how to best support parties with matters at the Integrated Domestic Violence Court (IDVC) .
   
• We are working with Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) and Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) at Ontario Court of Justice at 47 Sheppard to support a same-day family court form drafting pilot project. This pilot will run every Monday until August 14, 2026. This project is filling an unmet need given our Information & Referral Coordinators do not help parties complete their forms. Read more about the pilot project on our blog.
   
• We are working closely with the Family Justice Centre (FJC) in its expansion of service to suvivors of family violence. Click here for more information. 
   
• We have cleared our wait list for off-site mediation! Those seeking comprehensive family mediation services — whether they have a court file or not – can access free intake meetings and up to 6 hours of subsidized mediation from an experienced family mediator. Click here for more information.

• We are proud to congratulate our Program Supervisor Rhodes Thompson-Chase on his graduation from law school! Rhodes has been a leading member of our team for over ten years. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and commitment to all he does and we know he will be an outstanding lawyer. Congratulations Rhodes!

COURT UPDATES

• We continue to host court staff and Duty Counsel for monthly coffee shops— come out on the third Wednesday of each month for coffee, snacks and conversation!

• Do you need help with anything court-related? Or referrals to community services? Our Information & Referral Coordinators continue to get rave reviews for their caring, knowledgeable support. Read some of our latest Google reviews here!

• With the return to in-person services in all courts, we are finding more judges and lawyers are sending parties to meet with our on-site mediators. This is a great service for litigants who want to try to resolve one or two immediate issues on the day they are at court.

APCO UPDATES

Access for Parents and Children (APCO) has updated its hours of service as follows:

What’s Changing

1. Scarborough Location — Updated Days The Scarborough location will now operate on Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursdays. Please note that Tuesdays are no longer included in the schedule at this location.
    
2. North York Location — No Change The North York location will continue to operate on Saturdays and Sundays, with the same hours as before.
    
3. New Referrals — Submission by Email All new referrals must submit their court documents by email to apco@kinark.on.ca. A member of the program team will follow up with clients within 1–3 business days.
    
4. Program Closure — Mondays & Tuesdays The program will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays at all locations.
