2026 Waste Guide for the Town of The Blue Mountains

2026 Waste Resource Guide Now Available

The 2026 Waste Resource Guide is now available!

The updated guide is an important resource that outlines sorting information, landfill and recycling depot details, curbside collection guidelines and key dates for 2026. Notably, the 2026 edition includes significant updates related to Ontario's new Blue Box collection rules that came into effect on January 1. These changes shift how recycling is managed in the province and expands what can be collected.

Additionally, the Town would like to remind residents of the Waste Management and Litter Control By-law. The by-law, passed in 2023, established rules to help preserve the character of The Blue Mountains. A full list of infractions is available on the Town's website.

Take a look at the new guide to stay informed and ensure materials are sorted correctly under the new system!

Council Approves Our Path Forward

The Town of The Blue Mountains Council officially approved the 2026 - 2027 Corporate Strategic Plan on February 9, 2026, setting a clear and focused direction for the years ahead.

Built around four priorities, Accountable and Transparent Government, Community for Everyone, Resilient Growth and Strong and Diverse Economy, the Plan acts as the Town’s guiding framework. It will shape how decisions are made, how projects are prioritized and how resources are invested to best serve the community.

Implementation will happen throughout 2026 and 2027, with a review planned in 2027 to align with the next term of Council. To ensure transparency and accountability, quarterly progress updates will be shared with Council, along with an annual highlights report for the community.

2026 Resident Parking Permit Registration

The Town would like to remind residents to register for a 2026 Resident Parking Permit. A valid permit provides free parking at all municipally owned paid parking locations, including beaches, parks and trails.

As part of this year’s process, residents must create a household account through the online registration system. This new, one-time setup allows multiple vehicles within the same household to be managed under a single account and provides the option to issue temporary permits for visiting guests. A household account is required even if the vehicle was registered in prior years.

Registration can be completed online through the Town’s Parking Permit Portal. A step-by-step video guide is available to assist residents through the process. In-person support is also available at Town Hall during regular business hours.

Please note that parking permits must be renewed annually. Residents who registered for a permit in 2025 are required to register again for 2026. Proof of residency and vehicle ownership is required at the time of registration.
