Attendee, San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training
The BC Patient Safety & Quality Council, which administers PVN, is committed to cultural safety and humility. As part of that commitment, the Council is sponsoring an opportunity for 13 patient partners to participate in San’yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety Training! Attendees will learn about Indigenous history, cultural safety, and strategies for empathy through a series of online modules and discussions to increase cultural understanding and diversity in our network.

Patient Advisor, Elective Surgical Journey – Seniors’ Health Clinic Development Team
Improving the elective surgical journey for older adults is part of a new seniors’ health clinic in Fraser Health. The development team is looking for two patient partners who have experience with elective surgery to ensure the clinic includes what matters to patients during their journey.

Workshop Participant, Putting Health Care Processes on the Map
Mapping is a powerful tool that allows people to visually represent the current state of a health care process or journey and used often as a first step to health care improvements. We are seeking two patient partners to join us as we explore these important tools in our “Putting Health Care Processes on the Map” Workshop.

Member, Family Presence and Respectful Clinical Areas Working Group
Balancing a supportive family presence policy while ensuring a safe, respectful work and clinical care area is an ongoing challenge at St Paul’s Hospital. We are seeking four patient partners to join us in a working group designed to create safe and respectful work flows and guidelines, that are person- and family-centred, to ensure a safe space to work and receive care and treatments.

Interior Region

Workshop Participant, Inspiring a Better Health Care System Through the Patient & Provider Voice
The Thompson Medical Alliance is hosting a physician engagement event at Sun Peaks. One of the sessions will focus on how to better engage patients and providers in driving health care system changes. Having a diverse patient voice at the session is essential to our learning as we support providers to explore this opportunity in projects that affect change.
