New Health Sciences Centre: Progress update and more campus redevelopment plans

BC Children's Hospital COO & INSPIRE champion Sarah Bell says embracing possibility is key

Sarah Bell is helping BCIT build partnerships and raise funds for the $89.9 million Health Sciences Centre through the INSPIRE Campaign, the institute's largest fundraising intiative in its 50-year history. As a BCIT Nursing alumna and someone who has hired BCIT grads, Sarah knows first-hand the unique qualities and relevent skills that BCIT graduates bring to health care. Read more

 

Your donations at work: Concert Properties & Transoft Solutions commit to student success

This fall, Concert Properties and its partners raised $100,000 for BCIT Trades Discovery students in need. The grassroots fundraising campaign took the place of the annual Concert Charity Golf Tournament. Transoft Solutions also recently renewed its nearly $1-million commitment to providing students in-class access to its cutting-edge, industry-standard software.

 

BCIT Student Association leads the way with incredible gift for financially struggling students

The BCIT Student Association has committed an incredible $130,000 to the BCIT Student Emergency Response Fund (SERF). In early 2020, BCIT established the short-term COVID-19 Emergency Student Response Fund, which helped 319 students impacted by the pandemic. Recognizing the ongoing need, BCIT created SERF to provide a wider scope of financial assistance for students. Read more.

 

New developments at BCIT: EC- Council Canada, TRIUMF, and the Centre for the Internet of Things

BCIT has partnered with EC-Council Canada and Circadence in response to the global cybersecurity shortage to collaborate and develop an applied, cutting-edge curriculum to prepare students for their careers. BCIT has also partnered with TRIUMF to develop a program addressing the evolving needs of BC's economy. BCIT also launched the Centre for the Internet of Things to support ongoing digital transformation.

 

Pivoting in a pandemic: BCIT South Wetland Restoration project brings education to life

Frogs, birds, critters, and the community now have a newly built wetland to enjoy on the south end of the BCIT Burnaby Campus, near Guichon Creek. Constructed by students in the Ecological Restoration degree program as part of a three-day field course, the new biodiversity hotspot isn't just good for the environment, it's also a living example of how programs at BCIT have pivoted during the pandemic.
