Introducing Winning Strategies for serving francophones video

New connections made at the Bridging Boundaries event

On March 10th, representatives from health and social services organizations gathered to meet new partners and expand connections in order to improve access to services in French at the bilingual event "Franchir les frontières/Bridging Boundaries".

Participants heard about concrete solutions and the positive impacts of the Winning Strategies project, as well as powerful testimonies from francophone clients who faced linguistic barriers in health settings.

What do Youth, Family and Caregiver Partners think of French-language services?

In December 2025 , members of the Winning Strategies team met with Youth, Family and Caregiver Partners from Kids Come First. This group works closely with healthcare users to make their experiences better and improve the system.

The goal of the meetings was to raise awareness about the Winning Strategies project and to discuss their experiences and preferences regarding healthcare. The team also wanted to know if and how the principles of the Active Offer affected their healthcare journey.

These key points emerged from the discussions.

  • From the beginning, it is essential to offer the choice of language of service to patients and clients, explicitly and repeatedly.
  • Linguistic equity is directly linked to the safety, dignity, and quality of care.
  • Trust in the service provider’s language proficiency is just as important as the service itself.
  • Transparency and collaboration within the healthcare system can mitigate capacity issues.

These meetings and participants’ feedback will enable us to continually refine the Winning Strategies and related initiatives.

Project evaluation

As the project funding nears the end, we would like to measure results to better understand its success level and effectiveness. This evaluation will also help identify areas for improvement and ways to ensure the project’s sustainability.

We would like to hear from you, no matter the stage your organization was at. Have you simply heard about the Winning Strategies? Have you been invited or participated to an information session or networking event? Did you complete the organizational self-assessment? Did you complete a work plan or implement one or many of the Winning Strategies?

Please help us evaluate the project by filling out the survey, which should take you approximately 15 minutes. The survey is open until March 20, 2026.

If you have any questions about this survey and the evaluation of the Winning Strategies project, please contact  Nathalie Rochefort.

We thank you in advance for your participation.
