The UBC Journal for Climate Justice (JCJ) is a newly founded publication at UBC in collaboration with the Centre for Climate Justice that is designed to platform research-based and creative insights into climate justice at the intersection of art, activism, and academics. Editors are responsible for the review, selection, and editing of works submitted to the JCJ in a collaborative peer-review process.

Truth and Reconciliation Workshop | UBC Botanical Garden

The goal of this 3 hour workshop is to increase the collective capacity of UBC Science to understand the lived experiences of Indigenous Peoples as well as to learn about colonial Canadian narratives that impact Indigenous communities.

Instructor Brad Marsden from the Gitksan Nation, British Columbia, creates space for groups to learn, listen, understand and discuss the impact of residential schools and colonization.

Applications for UBC's delegation at COP28 are now open

The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) summit is taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirate from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

Each year UBC receives a limited number of observer badges for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP) negotiation space, known as the Blue Zone.

This 6 month program pairs student mentees with post-doc and graduate student mentors to design a theoretical research project. At the end of the program, the undergraduate students present their finished projects at the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC), one of the largest undergraduate research conferences in BC.

June is Indigenous History Month in Canada, a month to learn about, appreciate and acknowledge the rich history, contributions and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across the country.

UBC and community events

Public launch of: BC First Nations Climate Action Data Quilt, a comprehensive database, mapping tool, and interactive platform that weaves together First Nations climate action initiatives in the land colonially known as British Columbia. Speakers will include Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, President of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs; Cree/Métis project leader Sharon Marshall; and speakers from two First Nations climate initiatives. Hosted by the West Coast Climate Action Network.
