Protect yourself from the flu

Influenza (flu) season generally occurs in the fall and winter but can always come early. Getting the flu shot is your best protection.

Free flu clinics will take place on campus from October 31 to November 2 and November 14 to 16.

Register for Lead the Way leadership and
career development conference

Lead the Way is a one-day professional development conference designed to help you prepare for the next step on your career path and develop your leadership skills. Registration is free, and refreshments and lunch will be included. Mark your calendars for Lead the Way on November 7.

This event is brought to you by Valley First credit union in partnership with Career Development and the Student Experience Office. Those attending until end-of-day will receive a gift from UBC and our sponsor Valley First Credit Union.

Free food skills workshop – let's cook together!

In preparation for opening the new Food Hub on campus, Campus Wellness is bringing back free food skill workshops this semester! Come build your confidence in the kitchen and learn new skills, tips, and tricks to create nutritious and budget-friendly meals. We provide the ingredients for free and you follow along from your own kitchen over Zoom.

From book clubs and intercultural sports to dancing workshops, Hygge day, and Taste of Home, there’s something for everyone to celebrate during Global Education Week, November 1 to 4.

Brought to you by the Global Engagement Office, Global Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate our international student body, promote intercultural learning, and discover study abroad opportunities.

Taste of Home is back for Global Education Week!

After a hiatus due to COVID-19, the Global Engagement Office invites you to UBCO’s annual multi-cultural potluck, Taste of Home! 

Taste of Home is a potluck event where students share comfort food from around the world. Students are encouraged to bring a dish, dessert, or drink to share and enjoy with others.

Students who wish to prepare a dish will have access to a limited amount of $50 gift certificates from Superstore to cover grocery costs (first come, first served).

Rock climbing lessons at Beyond the Crux

Learn to climb with four fun-filled nights at Beyond the Crux Climbing Gym. Weekly 1.5-hour sessions are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. Choose a night that works with your schedule and join us for four weeks of fun!

UBCO Recreation has partnered with the Airhouse Sports Academy to offer an Airhouse program for students and staff! Join us for this four-week program on Wednesday nights for a lesson and free play in the park.

Join UBCO Recreation for Latin Rhythms Dance lessons right here on campus. Registration is just $40 for five weekly classes. There are limited spots available so sign up today to learn a new type of dance or improve your skills.

Q&A Session!

Interested in studying abroad next year? Go Global is offering Q&A sessions until October 26. Not able to make it for a Q&A? Stop by during drop-in hours, Monday (on Zoom) from 1 to 4 pm, Tuesday (in-person) from 1 to 4 pm, or Friday (in-person) from 9 am to 12 pm.

Drugs don't have to be spooky

The harm reduction team (HaRT) will be at Fright Night on Friday, October 28. We will be offering drug-checking, other harm-reduction services, and substance use information. 

For updates about the time and location, follow us on Instagram. We also have regularly scheduled drug checking, naloxone training, and harm reduction education on Tuesdays and Thursdays in UNC 337 from 6 to 8 pm every week.
