Upcoming Webinar – How to Lead Intersectoral Collaborations for Health and Equity when Resources are Limited?

Tuesday June 11, 2024, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT

What needs to be considered when you want to establish or maintain intersectoral partnerships in the context of limited resources? During this webinar, we will present the results of a literature review on intersectoral actions for health and equity in the context of budgetary constraints, the experience of the COVID-19 vaccine promotion deployment initiative among Black communities in the Direction régionale de santé publique de Montréal, as well as certain reflections on the theme of intersectoral collaborations with limited resources.

By participating in this webinar, you will gain insight into the challenges, opportunities and strategies to consider when navigating these issues.

Five Policy Briefs on Strengthening the Implementation of Health in All Policies (HiAP) at the Local Level in Ontario and Québec

Are you engaged in, or planning to engage in, a Health in All Policies (HiAP) initiative at the local level?
Have a look at these five policy briefs that feature a series of useful recommendations for implementing Health in All Policies at the local level.

Produced by the HARMONICS research team in partnership with the NCCHPP, these briefs present how HiAP was being implemented and sustained in five local governements: Sherbrooke (QC), Regional County Municipality des Maskoutains (QC), Elgin St. Thomas (ON), Chatham-Kent (ON), and Peterborough (ON).

On May 7th, we presented a webinar on this research project. To learn more, read the news item below.

Webinar – Health in All Policies Initiatives at the Local Level: What Do They Look Like, and How to Strengthen Their Implementation?

Health-promoting intersectoral collaborations (so-called “Health in All Policies”/HiAP) involve coordinating on-going collaboration across government sectors and with organizations outside of government. How do people involved with HiAP navigate the challenges and strengthen implementation?

In this webinar, we shared results from a research project which investigated how HiAP has been used over time in five local governments across Ontario and Québec. A detailed case study was presented of one of these initiatives: The Family and Social Development Policy in MRC des Maskoutains, a regional municipality in Québec.

Poster – Public Health Surveillance Functions in International Jurisdictions

This poster presents an overview of an international environmental scan aimed at describing the characteristics of national public health surveillance functions from countries with contexts comparable to Canada. This scan equips public health professionals with insights to better identify and understand the dynamics of public health surveillance systems. It sheds light on the imperative of infectious disease surveillance, especially highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, while also pointing towards future challenges and opportunities such as real-time data utilization, digitalization, and enhanced knowledge sharing. Through this, it supports efforts to refine surveillance strategies, innovate with data integration, and foster informed decision-making for improved public health outcomes.
