Bright & early at the Ono residence: Kinners enjoy breakfast with Santa

On October 25th, 2019, President Santa Ono invited 28 members of the UBC student body to breakfast at his residence in Norman Mackenzie House. This was a rare opportunity for students to interact with Professor Santa Ono and their peers. The breakfast was informal in nature and provided an opportunity for students to meet Prof. Ono and to discuss ideas and experiences at UBC.

Three of KIN’s students were invited to attend: Christy Wee, Kathryn Lehmann and Grant Phillips-Hing.

Do you want to become part of a dynamic, positive team of student leaders that work together to make a lasting impact on a first year or transfer student's experience?  Are you ready to take the next step in developing your leadership, group management, facilitation and problem solving skills?

We are looking for five (5) dynamic, positive, committed and goal-oriented students who thrive in a team environment. In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the strategic planning for Imagine Day. You will also help develop and train a team of up to 8 Orientation Leaders in support of fostering a respectful, inclusive and welcoming introduction to UBC KIN!

Did you know that ground breaking research is being conducted within the School of Kinesiology and just by being a KIN student, you can get a front line ticket to meet faculty members, learn more about the research and tour the facilities? 

Join the Student Engagement Office on our first Lab Crawl of the Academic Year at our featured labs: ICORD (International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries), Human Locomotion Research Lab, and the Translational Integrative Physiology Lab.

Want to go but don’t have a car? No problem. Catch the #99 Bus from UBC Vancouver Campus to VGH or the UBC Hospital to VGH Shuttle and you’ll arrive in approximately 30 mins.

Industry Night – Spotlight on Cannabis

November 18th, 6:00pm | Jack Poole Hall, Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre

Curious about what career opportunities exist within the Cannabis industry? Learn more about how you can position yourself for a career in this sector, which is now valued at $5.7 billion dollars in Canada.

This educational event, put on by UBC’s Centre for Student Involvement and Careers in partnership with alumni UBC, will have a keynote address by cannabis expert Dr. Jonathan Page, who is both Chief Science Officer at Aurora Med and UBC Adjunct Professor of Botany, followed by a panel of professionals who are currently leaders in the field, to share their experiences and insights.
